Hillary Clinton made a surprise appearance Saturday evening in Falls Church, Virginia to endorse gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe. She praised him saying McAuliffe “has maybe the biggest heart and the most open mind of anyone you’ll ever meet…Terry has always been there for me, and I’m pleased to be here for him.” According to CBS news, McAuliffe and Clinton are long time friends. McAuliffe was once the co-chair of her 2008 presidential bid and a former key fundraiser for her husband, former President Clinton, during his time in public office.
She took the opportunity to talk about key women’s issues as the event was sponsored by Women for Terry McAuliffe. “The whole country is watching to see if the rights of women and girls will be respected, especially over our own bodies and health care,” says Clinton. “You will not have to worry about that with Terry McAuliffe in the governor’s office.”
McAuliffe holds a slight lead over candidate Ken Cuccinelli in the latest polls. Elections will be held November 5.
