Virginia Democratic Senator, John “Chap” Petersen, recently asked the governor to resign. In a letter obtained by the media, Senator Petersen urges McDonnell to step down from his position. “If you or your family has received gifts of the type alleged, then you should disclose that fully and immediately,” says Petersen. The mounting pressure and negative attention surrounding the current governor may have negative consequences for current Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken Cuccinelli.
