E.W. Jackson Discusses Slavery at Juneteenth Event

The Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, E. W. Jackson, said that welfare programs in the 1960s, not slavery, destroyed black families. At the Juneteenth event, Jackson discussed how he is “a direct descendent of slaves.” Charniele Herring, chairman of the Virginia Democratic Party and candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates, openly expressed how Jackson’s extreme rhetoric offends Virginians.
